Participant Pool Information

Get paid to participate

Jumping Elephants is an Ottawa-based User Experience (UX) consulting firm that conducts usability testing studies with the goal of improving the online experience for Canadians. Our clients hire us to help them improve the usability of their online content by remotely testing with real users (like you). In order to complete these studies, we require a diverse research participant pool to draw from. To fulfill this need, we actively seek research participants to undergo remote usability testing for our projects. The bulk of our projects are conducted with the Government of Canada.

Paid Research Opportunities

When signing up for our research participant pool, applicants are asked to fill out a short demographic screener to match them with projects (based on the project’s demographic requirements). Once matches are found, participants are sent an email to inform them of the upcoming opportunity, along with an additional screener to further verify whether they fulfil the project’s specific needs. Emails are then sent out to inform those who qualified and were selected for the project. Participants are also sent invites to book their online sessions if the study is in interview form (i.e. on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.). Once the study is completed, those who participated will be paid for their involvement. The majority of studies follow a 45–60-minute interview format.

FAQ/Help Menu

  • We have worked with over 2000 participants, and on average have paid our testers around $70 and up to $100 per interview/testing session (usually less than an hour in duration). Participants are typically offered a choice of e-transfer or Amazon gift card to accept the payment.

  • You must be above 18 years old, a Canadian citizen/landed immigrant/permanent resident and have access to a mobile device or computer with high-speed internet. Aside from this, there are no further requirements!

  • How soon you will be contacted is dependent on the demographic requirements of upcoming studies. As soon as you are matched with a study, you will be informed of the opportunity and sent a screener to fill out. We are constantly recruiting for new research, with each study requiring a different demographic of people. In the occasion that client timelines shift and our studies are delayed, we will do our best to inform the participants as soon as possible. Though we cannot estimate exactly when we will reach out to you (differs per person), we anticipate that you will be contacted more often as we improve our lines of communication.
