2024

As the year draws to a close, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for the privilege of collaborating with so many of you on meaningful projects. We hope this holiday season brings you rest, joy, and inspiration, and we wish you all the best in the New Year!

Last year, we embraced the growing wave of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and commissioned our holiday artwork from an artist who leveraged cutting-edge AI tools—tools that hadn’t even existed the year before. The results were stunning, produced in a fraction of the time traditionally required, and we were undeniably impressed.

However, even as we marveled at the possibilities, we were mindful of the origins of these AI capabilities. These tools owe a great deal to the many artists whose original works were used as training data. While it’s true that AI can spark new forms of creativity, it’s equally true that its widespread use risks disincentivizing the creation of original art—potentially starving the creative flame of its fuel over time.

For 13 years, our holiday card tradition has been about supporting artists, and this year we returned to our roots by commissioning an original, non-AI piece. We partnered with Ottawa-based artist Lyneth Morgan —who creates stunning, tactile images using canvas, ink, and paint. Lyneth’s organic, hands-on process is a refreshing reminder of the value of unique, human creativity in a world that is increasingly being flooded with synthetic imagery. Lyneth has created a piece of art that feels truly unique and personal, something we can cherish and appreciate in real life.

We invite you to watch the “making of” video of this year’s artwork and explore more behind-the-scenes content on Lyneth’s Instagram —it’s pure joy and slightly addictive!

From all of us at Jumping Elephants, thank you for an incredible year. Here’s to a season filled with creativity, connection, and wonder.

Happy Holidays!

How the card was made
